I am looking for an old oak windowsill, can you help me?

Met meer dan 15.000 vierkante meter aan winkelruimte vol oude eikenhouten en grenen planken en balken, is er volop keuze voor een vensterbank van oud eikenhout. Elke dag helpen we klanten met het vinden van het perfecte stuk hout voor hun project. Door de enorme variatie in het aanbod is de kans groot dat er iets passends te vinden is. Of het nu gaat om een robuuste en rustieke houten vensterbank of een subtielere variant, er zijn veel mogelijkheden om precies te vinden wat nodig is. Bijvoorbeeld van eiken wagonplanken, 19^e eeuwse eiken planken, eiken boomstamplanken, Reims planken of Frans eiken. 

What does an old oak window sill cost at your place?

We understand that it’s nice to have an idea of our prices in advance. Because all our planks are unique pieces, they are priced individually at our wood yard. Therefore, the prices below are indicative. There are always planks that are priced lower or higher than the listed prices. In other words, we have planks for every budget.

* Please note that the widths and lengths of the boards are illustrative. We have boards in all common width and thickness sizes with lengths up to 8 meters.
* Indications are based on a thickness of 3 to 4 cm. Thicker boards are also available.

Can I order the window sill online from you?

Op dit moment is het niet mogelijk om een houten vensterbank ongezien bij ons te bestellen. Klanten zijn echter van harte welkom om zelf een mooie vensterbank uit te zoeken op onze houtwerf. Het is ook hartstikke leuk om langs te komen en om zelf te kiezen. ????

Jazeker, met onze vrachtwagen leveren we in heel Nederland voor 125 euro incl. BTW met een levertijd van circa 1 tot 3 weken na opdracht

Can the window sill be cut to size?

Yes, that is certainly possible, even at the time when the window sill is picked out. The nice thing is that the window sill can be taken away immediately. Ready while you wait!

Should I treat an oak windowsill?

This depends entirely on personal preference. An untreated oak window sill will discolor over time due to UV light, with the wood becoming darker and duller. For dark and aged planks, this effect is of course much smaller. Also, when in contact with water, stains may appear. These natural processes contribute to a more lived-in, aged look. For those who prefer to keep the original look, it is certainly possible to treat the windowsill, for example with an ultra matte lacquer such as Skylt from Rigostep. It may also be useful to seek advice from a specialty store such as The Baptist in Arnhem.

I am looking for a long shelf for the windowsill, do you have one?

Ja, er is ook een ruim assortiment aan lange planken beschikbaar. De langste eiken planken zijn maar liefst 8 meter, wat betekent dat er voldoende opties zijn voor een oude eikenhouten vensterbank van 3, 4 of 5 meter. Er is dus volop keuze voor verschillende lengtes.

Is it possible to place a heater under a (oak) wood windowsill?

Yes, you certainly can, although it is important to consider a few things. The heat from the radiator can affect the wood, because wood always adjusts to the humidity in a room. So take this into account. It is therefore advisable to choose oak wood that has already been properly dried. It is also wise to attach a heat-resistant insulation layer to the underside of the window sill and keep sufficient distance between the radiator and the wood, preferably about 10 to 15 centimeters.

Do you supply “oak overlay window sills” ?

Sometimes it is necessary to install what is known as a transfer window sill, which goes over an existing window sill. Special Table, a furniture store at the same company location, can help with this. Dion, from Special Table, is ready to assist with this solution
