This is no coincidence: oak is naturally exceptionally dense, tough, and resistant to moisture and mechanical stress. Furthermore, reclaimed wood has already proven its quality in practice. Oak that is still structurally usable can be identified by a hard core, a dry surface free of active mold growth, and the absence of wood rot in the load-bearing areas. A simple test is to drive an awl or screwdriver into the wood: if it resists and does not give way, the core is generally still intact.
