Antique french oak beams

Many centuries ago, French farmers frequently owned land containing oak forests, which proved to be highly practical. These trees served a dual purpose – they were used for constructing buildings and also as a source of firewood for heating during cold winters. This setup helped keep energy costs low.

Naturally, the farmers carefully selected the straightest oak trees available for creating structural beams in their farmhouses, as finding such straight trees was a rare occurrence. As for the irregular and curved oak trees, they were deemed less suitable for their own living space and, as a result, were cut down and cut into beams for building the barns.

Antique oak beams

We have recently reclaimed a magnificent assortment of six antique oak beams, and they have been prepared to be utilized in an interior design project. These beams date back to the 18th century and have been remarkably well-preserved over the years.
