Sawmill & operations

At the lumber yard, we have our own sawmill. Larger saw or planing orders are scheduled and estimated delivery time is coordinated in advance. Most small sawing and planing operations can be performed directly. Keep in mind that a sawing or planing operation takes time. In the meantime, feel free to have a cup of coffee or tea! It is also possible to attend the sawing operation yourself. Please note that at 5 p.m. the sawmill closes and therefore we do not accept sawing or planing operations from 4:30 p.m. onwards.

Prices for all sawing and planing operations are available upon request.

Shelves

Trimming boards

In the sawmill, we can cut boards and beams (up to 11×11 cm) at right angles to the desired length using a crosscut saw. A margin of error of a few millimeters is allowed.

Cutting boards lengthwise

Several years ago, a modern Altendorf sawing machine was installed in the sawmill. Allows boards with lengths up to 370 cm to be cut lengthwise to the desired width. This sawing operation is often performed for wall shelves so that they have a right-angled surface that can be attached to the wall.

Planing planks

Using a thicknessing machine, we can plane boards to the desired thickness. Keep in mind that not any board can be planed due to the presence of metal or nails.

Shelf doubling

An old Brenta sawing machine is installed in the middle of the sawmill. This very solid saw is indestructible. Boards can be cut “through the middle” with this.

Beams

Trimming beams

Smaller head sizes up to 12×12 cm can be cut at right angles. Larger head sizes can be cut with a power saw.

Planing beams

In the sawmill, we can plane beams. Please note that not all sizes are suitable for the thicknesser. A planing order is reviewed in advance and accepted if possible.

Beams doubling The large Brenta sawing machine can cut beams lengthwise through the middle. Even in this, the larger and longer beams do not always “fit. Consult with our staff in advance about the possibilities.

Saw risk

The risk of wood action is inherent in (re)sawing wood, especially longitudinal sawing. Keep this in mind.

Brush machining

A board or beam can be brushed if desired. We usually cannot perform this operation immediately and therefore it is scheduled. Keep in mind that wood stored outside must dry inside before brushing. This can take several weeks in the (wet) fall and winter.
