The origin of oak floorboards: France. Traditionally, the country maintains large oak forests from which a number of trees are selected each year by the French Forestry Commission as ready for felling. French oak is known for its quality.
Oak is strong and therefore an oak floor is enormously hard-wearing: it lasts for a very long period of time. You can sometimes find oak flooring several hundred years old in old listed buildings. Secondly, an oak floor is timeless and fits into both modern and authentic or rural interiors. Moreover, an oak plank floor creates a cozy and cozy atmosphere.

A number of factors determine this: the shape of the room, the windows and the way of laying.
The oak planks are artificially back-dried and therefore have the correct moisture percentage for indoor use.
However, with a wooden floor it is always important to keep the moisture percentage in a room between 55% and 65%.
In dry air, solid oak floorboards will shrink and in moist(er) air, the boards will expand.
This is inherent in the choice of wood and is also a natural process.
No you don’t have to.
If the choice is made not to treat the oak floor, stains and circles will appear.
The floorboards will also darken.
However, this gives the floor character after a few years.
When such a rustic aged floor is desired, we recommend leaving the floorboards untreated.
In some designs, however, it may be desirable to treat the floor.
Oak is easy to treat.
If a matt look is desired we recommend an ultra matt lacquer, for example Rigostep’s Skylt.
For good advice, we gladly refer our customers to the specialist store ‘De Baptist’ in Arnhem.
Their products can also be ordered online.
