Reclaimed American pine beams

In addition to the European variety, we also offer pine that originally grew in eastern and southern America.
These old American pine beams are stronger, and contain fewer to no knots.
Many of the specimens in our collection come from old mansions, farms or castles.
Upon arrival, they are inspected and metal stripped if necessary.
After any treatment, they are placed with other old American pine beams of similar size and appearance.

Old American pine

The trees grew up to 30 feet tall which ensures that almost no knots are visible.
The wood has a rich, golden color.
When the wood is cut, a resinous odor can be smelled immediately.

Renovation of monumental building

Often these beams are used for the renovation of a listed building.
In the past, American pine was mostly imported to Europe from North America.
The beams came with the ships as ballast.
In the areas around the old ports, the wood was mostly used in construction.
In Amsterdam’s canal houses you will often find American pine.
Should a certain beam need replacement, and there is a desire to keep the building in its original state as much as possible, we may be able to help with the right wood.

Re-sawing old beams

American pine is relatively stable; there is little chance of operation after resawing.
This makes the wood suitable for machining in a sawmill.
The desired head size can be cut from a thicker beam.
