Wood / Wood ceiling / Reclaimed roof boarding boards
Used roof board boards, old wood that is very reusable as a building material. For example, to replace roof boarding boards in a shed or canopy, or as old wood flooring or wall covering.
What are roof boarding boards? Reclaimed roof boarding boards are the boards that lie on the purlins in a (roofing) structure. The main functions of these boards are windproofing the roof, carrying the insulation material and roofing and, of course, creating a nice, homey atmosphere. The used roofing boards are very suitable for the restoration of an old roof, but also as wall cladding or as wooden flooring. We have several large, uniform lots available in Doorwerth in a variety of appearances and sizes.
Most batches of old roofing board come from old schools, sheds or industrial buildings, mostly from the Netherlands. For example, we recently received a batch coming in from an old Twente cotton weaving mill. The old boards have their original tongue and groove connection.
The old roof sheathing is mostly used softwood. The reason: the wood is dimensionally stable and not too heavy for roof construction. Besides this old spruce or pine wood, there is also old oak roof boarding
available.
The appearance varies from party to party. The brown color tones are most common in the old softwood, but there are also batches with a gray color. The exact shade varies: from light to dark. The best way, of course, is to come see the planks for yourself in Doorwerth.
The old roof boarding boards can also function perfectly as flooring. The planks have a tongue and groove making the wood easy to lay as flooring. It is also possible, after laying, to paint the floor. A light gray or white painted old wood floor can transform a dark (attic) space into a beautiful light room.
In some cases, it may be necessary to replace the roof sheathing of an old barn or farmhouse. To preserve the characteristic atmosphere, it is possible to reapply used roof boarding boards. We offer large uniform lots that are suitable for roof sheathing of a large roof. The authentic tongue and groove joint is still usable.
The boards can also be used as old wood wall coverings. The old wood gives a room a warm look.
Yes. It is possible to clean the shelves with a sturdy brush. Thus, the wood is cleared of dirt and dust.
In most cases, it is unusual and unnecessary to treat the old boards when they are used as roof sheathing in a canopy or shed. Should the wood be used as a wood floor, it can be treated as desired. For example, with an ultra-matte paint, or for example, with a white or light gray paint.
Prices depend on the width of the plank: a wide plank is pricier than a narrow plank. The area required also plays a role in the price. Request a quote that includes the area needed and the desired look, and we will offer a party that we feel is most suitable. Of course, it is always possible to drive by and see what lots are in stock. There are almost always small batches of old roof boarding boards up to 20 square meters on sale for 10 euros per m2 excl. btw.

The old roof boarding boards have a working width between 9 cm and 22 cm. The width varies from lot to lot: for example, there are lots of old roof board with a width of 10 cm, 12 cm, 14 cm or 16 cm available, as well as 18 cm or 20 cm wide.
The thickness varies from batch to batch. A thinner roof board is about 1.5 cm (15 mm) and a relatively thick board is about 2.2 cm (22 mm). Most of the boards have a thickness of about 2 cm (20 mm)
Yes. In interior design, it is common to vary the width according to the size of the roof. For a huge hood, a wider board of 16 or 18 cm is nice. A narrow roof board is again more suitable for a small town house or garden shed. Keep in mind that a wide plank shrinks relatively more than a narrow plank in low humidity. In the dry spring month, for example, small gaps could appear between the boards if the room is very dry. There is no cause for concern in such a case, because as the humidity in the room rises, the gaps shrink again.
The length of the boards also varies from batch to batch. Often the boards have long lengths between 3 meters and 5 meters. Of course, these lengths may vary from batch to batch. Since the roof boarding boards are installed against the purlins, the spacing between the purlins is relevant when installing.
