Combine a visit to Frank Pouwer Historical Building Materials with a hike through the beautiful natural landscape of the Doorwerth area or lunch in the medieval castle “Doorwerth.

The nature surrounding the lumber yard is ideal for a short or long nature walk. Explore the ancient forests, the river landscape or the desolate floodplains of the Rhine. Hiking trails range from 30 minutes to two hours. Prefer to go by bike? The area is bursting with unique bike trails right through the woods and moors. The Rhine can even be crossed by a picturesque bicycle ferry.

Complete the day with a cup of coffee or lunch at the beautiful Doorwerth Castle, a moated castle located in the floodplain of the Rhine River. Near this castle is a monumental Robinia planted in 1579, making it the oldest Robinia in the Netherlands. The castle cafĂ© “De Zalmen” is open Tuesday through Sunday for coffee, lunch or an early drink.
