About Frank Pouwer Historic Building Materials

For decades, Frank Pouwer has scoured Europe in search of historic building materials, especially wood. It started with distinctive floor tiles, roof tiles and other beauty, but Frank soon had a focus on wood. Actually, it started when Frank was sixteen: he became interested in reusing old wood because the remnants of the little castle Palmesteyn were used to build houses. That experience has been the seed for today’s company Frank Pouwer Historic Building Materials.

Europe’s largest

Today, the company is one of the largest in Europe. Every year at the lumber yard, hundreds of private and corporate enthusiasts find the finest beams, boards, posts and flooring for their unique project. In doing so, they contribute to a more circular economy; reusing old wood is simply more sustainable than cutting down trees and processing used wood into pulp or waste for whatever purpose.leaving it without any function. Frank Pouwer Historic Building Materials enjoys contributing a significant stone to a sustainable world.

Knowledge

Over the years, the size of the timber stock has increased, as has the diversity of its supply. In the process, the knowledge of the helpful employees grows: they are happy to think creatively about how wagon planks, old oak beams, pine planks or elm trunks can be used for renovations, conversions, furniture pieces. We are also happy to help with other custom issues. After all, there is nothing like making something special out of already special wood. And because the team is always actively thinking along, there is a lot of knowledge about the different applications.

Classic tractors

In the search for unique materials in places such as France, Germany and the United Kingdom, Frank Pouwer also regularly comes across antique tractors. These can be found in the lumber yard, proudly displayed in one corner and completely restored. Indeed, Frank Pouwer is a lover of historical solidity.

Floodplains

The unique location in the floodplain of the Rhine, surrounded by the beautiful natural landscapes, make a visit to Frank Pouwer Historic Building Materials special; a kind of all-in package of atmosphere, thoroughness, friendliness, knowledge, robust and authenticity.
